Socially Responsible Business

I truly believe in putting you and our planet before profit.

Too often, our society believes that their value or self-worth is demonstrated by the amount of money they are making or the title that they have at work. When they aren’t able to take a step back and see the bigger picture – they miss the importance of their own well-being and the well-being of our planet.

Having a positive social impact is one of the best ways for me to measure my success as a one-woman entrepreneur. I strive to set myself apart from others by working with small businesses who believe in cultivating and growing their White Sage plants to their maturity in their natural habitat, sustainably harvesting as the plants themselves continue to grow and flourish and are certificated from both the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture (USDA) and the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF).

White Sage’s high demand has made it very difficult to find companies that are passionately cultivating and sustaining White Sage without damaging the environment. Many companies have harvested White Sage almost to its bare survival, causing this powerful plant to be added to the International Union of Nature Conservation's list. Due to its over-harvesting, White Sage can eventually lead to extinction. Companies who are over-harvesting are cutting down the trees for immediate economic gain because they would rather see a profit than actually sell a powerful product.

As a heart-centered business, I am always working to connect with others who are developing strong foundations of long-term and love-driven actions within every decision they make.

What is White Sage?

Sage is an aromatic plant that is incredibly beneficial in both medicine and food. Ancient Romans called sage a salvation plant (salvare, meaning “save” or to “cure”). It has also been used for ancient Egyptian, Roman, and Greek medicines because of its natural healing properties.

 What does it smell like?

White Sage has hints of earthy tones, herbal tones, mint, wood, and grass. It smells pure and brings a slight coolness to the nostrils which creates a sharp cooling sensation inside your head. It reminds me of camping, feeling deeply connected with mother nature and fully submerged in the smells of the forest.

*If the smell becomes too intense, please make sure to open a window and allow fresh air to enter your space.

What is smudging?

Smudging is a practice used to help clear negative energy from a space in order to make that space feel more comfortable and tranquil. Much like Palo Santo, White Sage can be burned, and its smoke can be used to ‘smudge a room’ or remove negative energy and replace it with positive energy and happiness.

When you burn and smudge the sage, it releases chemicals that are said to help cleanse the space. Many people believe that smudging created deep levels of relaxation and increases self-confidence. It is considered to be an excellent stress reliever that is beneficial for spiritual self-care.

How to smudge yourself or a room with White Sage

Smudging with White Sage is very tranquil and incredibly beneficial. If you are new at this, I recommend following the steps I have created below!

Step 1. Start by organizing, decluttering, or cleaning your room. When we remove clutter and physically create space, we also spiritually and emotionally create space. Cluttered or dirty areas can create energetic blockages that hinder the sage from truly working.

Step 2. Make your bed, open up your blinds and windows, and let the fresh air in. Make sure to keep the windows open through out the entire smudging process. Allowing natural light to come in also helps reduce moisture in the air and can kill off small microbes and germs.

Step 3. Now that your space is open it is time to light the sage. Use a match or candle to light the sage stick. Hold the sage in the fire for about 5-10 seconds.

Step 4. Blow out the flame by using your breath or by gently putting the flame out in a flame-proof bowl, allowing the smoke to release. *Make sure only smoke is releasing from the sage stick

Step 5. As the smoke fills up the room, move the sage stick around yourself and your room, making sure to move in a counter-clockwise rotation. I recommend setting an intention around what you are “clearing” and what type of energy you want to bring in. Allow your mind to stay calm and take deep breaths in and out.

Example: “With this smoke, I release all negative energy that has made me feel unworthy. I am now consciously choosing to bring in empowering energy that allows me to feel valued, accomplished, and proud of who I am and who I continue to become.”

Step 6. While repeating your intention or reciting other positive thoughts as you walk around your room, make sure that you are allowing the smoke to fill up all of the nooks and crannies.

*This can be done by waving the sage stick with your hand or a feather. Do not blow the smoke.*

Example: Making sure to go under your bed, into each corner of your room, around your door, and in your closets.

Step 7. Once you’ve covered your room or yourself in sage smoke and you’ve recited your intention, you can now place your sage stick back in your fireproof bowl.

Step 8. Reignite the sage stick when you feel your space needs it. Everybody is different – maybe you want to smudge yourself or your room every morning, once a week, once a month, or even once a year. There is never a wrong time. Do what feels right for you.
